Mrs. Margaret Helen Treadaway Ables, age 88, of Margo Trail, Rome, died Thursday evening at her residence.

Mrs. Ables was born in Wichita, Kan., on March 24, 1914, daughter of the late Thomas Marion Treadaway and Margaret Jane Tilly Treadaway. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she taught in the Kindergarten department and was also very active in the Sunday school program. Prior to her retirement, she was a teacher with Rome City and Floyd County Schools. Mrs. Ables was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. Ables Jr., on Dec. 5, 1969; two brothers, William Treadaway and Larkin Treadaway; and a sister, Alva Culpepper.

Mrs. Ables is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles L. Ables and his wife, Cynthia, of Rome, Thomas A. Ables and his wife, Gatha, of Lilburn and Robin W. Ables and his wife, Julia, of Rome; one daughter and son-in-law, June Ellen Aycock and husband, Rip, of Rome; four grandsons, Chad Ables, Forrest Ables, Jake Terry and Richard Bradley; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ables will be held today at 1 p.m. in the Thomas B. Griffin Memorial Chapel of the Daniel's Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Freshour officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery.

The family received friends Friday evening from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Daniel's Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and should meet at Daniel's Funeral Home by 12:45 p.m. today: Sam Evans, Brady Drummond, Mitchell Evans, Winfred Jones, Ed Waters and Fred Ergle.

Flowers are being accepted, however, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Trinity Methodist Church, 606 Turner McCall Blvd., Rome, Ga. 30165.
