Vern had an easy going, laid back, personality with a great sense of humor and wit much like his father and siblings. Vern was in the Navy in WWII and was in the first wave to land in Japan after the bombing of Hiroshima. He graduated from University of Washington in forestry management and lived much of his career in the forests, that he loved, in Western Washington. He was an expert in forest fire management and was flown into areas all over the state as a consultant in fire strategy control. He loved to fish! Was a wonderful husband and father.
