Civil War Service - He enlisted on Sep 20 1861 age 22. He mustered on Sep 25 1861 in Co A 42nd Ohio Infantry as a Musician at Camp Chase, Ohio. On Nov 8 1862 while enroute to Chickasaw Bayou, Miss he was discharged on surgeon's certificate of disability. His wife filed for a widow's pension on Nov 4 1911 which was approved - Cert # 736051

He was a farmer in Hiram for the rest of his life.

He married Clara Alice Bishop on 12 Dec 1864 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. They had three children: Jesse A. Udall # 71680373, George (see below) and Olevia Udall (1881–??)
