They were married by D.A. L. Laverty at the Mount Joy, PA Church of God on June 6th 1876. Abram's residence was listed as Toledo Ohio, Alice's was Lancaster, PA.

Abram had relocated to Ohio and after their marriage their children were born in several different towns. He may have had started with other trades but began working as a linemen for the new invention of the telephone and eventually was promoted to a supervisor and moved to Chicago to work for Chicago Telephone and Telegraph. His death certificate listed his occupation as CT&T Investigator.
