Passed away peacefully Sunday January 30th at her residence
with a daughter and son at her side. She fought a valiant fight to overcome a stroke suffered in 2008.
She was born October 1st 1927 in Tennessee.
Daughter to Earl Gilbert Howorth and Winifred (Loshbaugh) Howorth.
Survived by her loving sister Elizabeth (Betty) Morgan and her four children; four grand children and many nieces and nephews as well as friends, caregivers and therapists. Her special laugh, expressions and sense of humor will be sadly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, H. Grant Sailor (March 2006), her brothers Gilbert Jackson Howorth (Jack) of Atlanta Georgia, Donald Howorth of Valpariso, Indiana and sister Mary Segal (Howorth) of Seattle, Washington.
She was a graduate of the American Academy of Art and attended ballet classes in Chicago after working briefly in a war munitions plant. She grew up in Hobart, Indiana and attended Hobart High School. A true naturalist at heart, she loved maintaining her gardens and provided a sanctuary to the songbirds she loved. She received Homewood beautification awards for her masterful landscaping and flowerbeds which brought her much joy and happiness.
She and her husband were both contributing members of Saint Paul's Community Church in Homewood where they painted murals in the Choir room and children's nursery as well as making bird houses for church fundraisers.
Arrangements: A visitation, followed by a service, will be held at Saint Paul Community Church 8200 Dixie Hwy. Homewood, IL.
