He was born in Kenney, Tx. He married Elsie Markle on November 3, 1915. Had no children and worked as a mounted policeman in Houston, Tx. He died in Wallis while visiting relatives.

His obituary in the Herald Coaster January 14, 1927:
Mr. Ernest P. McNutt, age 43 years, died at the Rosenberg Hospital, last Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
Mr. McNutt's home was in Kenney, Texas and he came to Wallis on Tuesday to visit relatives and when he arrived there, was very sick. His severe illness was not realized by his relatives, until it was too late, he was brought to the Rosenberg Hospital Friday afternoon, where an operation for appendicitis was performed. As soon as attendants at the hospital learned his condition, they gave no hope for his recovery.
Deceased is survived by his aged mother, Mrs. S.V. (Sue Brown) McNutt, of Kenney; three brothers, Dr. Nathian McNutt, of Caldwell, J. B. (Joseph Brice) McNutt, of Houston, J. L. (James Landes "Jim") McNutt, of Kenney; five sisters, Mrs. Smith, of Caldwell, Mrs. Irvin of Wallis, Misses Pearl, Johnnie, and Mamie, of Kenney. He was a nephew of Dr. Brown, a well known Wallis Physician.
The remains were shipped to Kenney, Sunday, for burial.
