George Theo Mingus, Sr., is my step-father's dad. He was one of the kindest men I have ever known. Being paralized most of his life, he supported himself and his mother with a radio repair shop next to his house. He was a talented artist selling some of his paintings, beautiful outdoor scenes, mostly from memory, I guess, he didn't get to leave his house very often. When he was still in his twentys he sold hunting dogs. I'v been told just recently they were very fine hunting dogs. Grand-daddy was a C.B. person, and once when he was talking on the C.B. mike, he accidently shocked himself repairing a radio. The person on the other end realized what was happening and called a neighbor to run to his house. Saved his life. He had the first radio repair shop in the town where he lived. I remember him buying us one of the first TVs', only a seven inch screen. But we could see all the tv programs after school. There were very few at the time,I can remember watching the chief test pattern waiting for Howdy Doody to begin. Grand-daddy died of cancer. He had six grand-daughters, (and I was one of them in his eyes) and one grandson.
