Alma Hansen, 97, of Columbus (formerly of Genoa), died Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Cloverlodge Care Center, in St. Edward.

The funeral service will be Saturday, June 18, 10:00 A.M. at St. Luke's United Church of Christ with Rev. Chris McArdle officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 9:45 A.M. Memorials may be directed to the church or to the Genoa Indian School.

Alma Hansen was born December 25, 1913, in Duncan, Nebraska, to John and Emma (Waldman) Schweizer. Alma attended school in Duncan. On April 20, 1937, Alma was united in marriage to Chester Hansen in Duncan. They farmed near Duncan until 1947 when they moved to a farm near Genoa. They continued farming there until 1977 when they retired to Columbus. In 1999, Alma move to Cottonwood Assisted Living and in 2008 she moved to Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward where her brother and sister resided. Alma enjoyed cooking and gardening.
