Robert was born Oct. 8, 1926, in East St. Louis, the son of Herbert John and Grace Adele (Starks) Behrens. He married Jerry Ann Garrison on April 2, 1949, and she survives.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a truck driver and continued his career as a truck driver until his retirement.
Robert was a member of Dieterich American Legion Post 628. He enjoyed watching TV and enjoyed his pets.
Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jerry Ann Behrens of Dieterich; two children, Robert H. (Karen) Behrens Jr. of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Brenda Elaine (Mark) Hardiek of Dieterich; seven grandchildren, John Taylor Jr., Michelle Yocom Anesu, Katie Guffey, Bill Valentine, Brady Valentine, Robert Behrens III and Brandy Behrens; and 11 great-grandchildren, Michael, Dawson, Ryan, Max Robert, Eli, Logan, Maleah, Taylor, Blade, Kohl and CJ.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Helen Marie Hardin.
Private family services will be held and burial will be in Dieterich Village Cemetery, Dieterich. Arrangements are under the care of Blake-Wright Funeral Home, Dieterich.
