Devin Wayne Adair, Our beloved son, passed away into God's waiting arms on April 28, 2006 in Tulsa, Oklahoma after being stricken with a severe staph infection which he had been bravely fighting for more than two weeks. Devin was born on July 24, 1984 in Harbor City, California and spent the first five years of his life living in Torrance, California where he first started his notable athletic career by playing Tee Ball at West Torrance Little League. After moving to Manhattan Beach, California, Devin attended Pacific Elementary School where he first met many of his lifelong friends and during this part of his life, participated in many local team sports including basketball, soccer, baseball and roller hockey. He then attended Manhattan Beach Middle School where he added snow boarding to his list of pastimes. During his years at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, Devin concentrated on baseball, snow boarding, and found two new sports in ice hockey and football. In baseball, Devin was called up to play varsity while still a freshman and played three years for the Mustangs. It was in football that Devin found his true athletic calling. Playing three years of varsity football, Devin played many positions including defensive back, linebacker, long snapper and tight end. It was at tight end that Devin ultimately excelled and was named All Bay League his junior and senior years. He was named All Area during his senior year. Graduating from Mira Costa in 2003, he went on to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for one year and then returned to the South Bay area to attend El Camino College where he worked on his business degree and played football for the Warriors. After an outstanding season, Devin was named All Mission Conference, All-State, and All American at tight end. It was at this time that Devin achieved his goal of receiving a full scholarship to a Division 1-A college to play football and work on his business communications degree at Tulsa University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Devin was a warm and sensitive young man who enjoyed the company of his family and friends and always had an encouraging hug for those who needed one. He was fun-loving, witty, and a joy to be around in any situation. At times, Devin took things to the extreme and never did things half way. His enthusiasm was encouraging to all of his friends and family and all were drawn to him for fun and good times. In times of crisis or emotional need, Devin always had a shoulder to lean on for those who needed it. Devin was a very caring individual and will be deeply missed by all. He is survived by his loving parents Lin and David Adair; his beloved sister, Jamie Adair; loving grandparents Doyal and Barbara Adair of Torrance and Jim and Lotus Beggs of Menifee, CA; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins throughout California and Hawaii. Visitation will be held at White and Day Colonial Mortuary, 901 Torrance Blvd, Redondo Beach on Sunday, May 7, from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
