Mrs. Edna Estella Honts
Edna Estella, wife of Stanley Honts and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Shaffer, was born in Wapello, Iowa May 4, 1884, and died at her home in Davemprt, Iowa, February 5, 1916, at 3:30 a.m., aged 31 years 8 months and 22 days. She was united in marriage to Stanley Honts, December 28, 1898. Besides her husband and two sons, Glen and Lee, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Sarah Shaffer and three brothers, Frank and Will of Nichols, and George of Wapello; and one sister Mrs. Geo. Reddick of Oakville, Iowa. Her father, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Her entire life was spent in Wapello with the exception of a few years after her marriage, when she lived at Conesville, Muscatine and Davenport.
Two years ago the 10th of February she underwent an operation at the Davemport hospital but her health gradually failed until a second operation was necessary in August of the same year, after which she seemed to inprove for a time, but in September of the following year she was operated on the third time from which she never recovered. She has been a patient suffering the past two years, never companying, but always jolly and lively when not suffering intense pain. Her happy disposition won many friends wherever she lived and she died trusting in a higher power and ready to leave this life for the great Beyond.
Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church in Wapello, Monday, Febraury 7 th at 2 o'clock. Interment was made in the wapello Cemetery.
