SGT. LARRY McCOY AT BOMBER BASE IS REPORTED AS MISSING IN ACTION
Brother Of Lieut Ronald McCoy, Who Was Killed In Battle Several Months Ago
Two months after receiving word that an older son had been killed in action, a Fairfield Township couple Saturday received a telegram from the War Department to the effect that a second son was "missing In action."
Reported missing is Staff Sgt, Larry D. McCoy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick McCoy and brother of Lt. Ronald Mo-Coy, who was listed as killed in action on May 28.
Sgt. McCoy has been missing in action since July 29 following a raid of the Kiel Canal, in Germany, the telegram stated. Lt. Ronald McCoy was killed In action over the European theater of operations also.
Both men were members of bomber crews. Lt McCoy having been a bombardier. Shortly before Ronald was reported missing in action, later to be listed as killed in action by the War Department, he and his brother, Larry, met by chance in England where both were stationed. The brothers hadn't seen each other for more than a year and neither knew the other was in England.
Both Ronald and Larry were graduated from Ligonier High School, Larry having entered the service shortly after his graduation.
The McCoys have a third son. Jack, who expects to be inducted into the armed forces soon, having been graduated from Ligonier High School this spring. The McCoys live in Fairfield Township along Route 711, about seven miles north of Ligonier.
