Arrived in the United States from Austria in 1885
Joseph was my Grandfather.
He Married Barbara Podlaha in 1892
Barbara and Joseph had 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls, all are accounted for.

My Grandfather had two brothers and three sisters, (names unknown). My Father said his Father never talked about his family very much.

In 1900 (at age 33) he worked at the William Bayard Cutting Estate as a Greenhouse Laborer.

William Bayard Cutting (January 12, 1850 – March 1, 1912) His Long Island estate along the west bank of the Connetquot River, purchased from George L. Lorillard in 1884, and the country house called "Westbrook" which he built there, are now the Bayard Cutting Arboretum.

He moved from East Islip, Long Island, New York to Kick Hill Road in Lebanon, CT on a 100+ acre farm in 1912. He was a member of the East Islip Fire Department (I have his hat). My Father said when Pop came home from a fire his eyebrows were scorched and his clothes reeked of smoke.
Mid could be C.
He died at the age of 55 from a appendicitis at St. Joseph's Hospital located at 88 Jackson St. in Willimantic, Connecticut.

Question: Why doesn't the stone have any names on it ?
Answer: Aunt Mary paid for the monument, and she said, "people don't need to know who's buried here" end of story...
