Ruth Isodore Barnum was born on Oct. 28, 1915 in Vermont. She was sister to Paul and Marjorie. Her father was Robert Barnum (1888-1941) and her mother was Mary Elizabeth Martin (1893-1966). She served as a corporal in the US Army during WWII, where she met her husband, Lawrence Earl "Larry" Maness. They were married on Nov. 25, 1943. They had seven children and resided in North Bangor, NY, where she lived until her death from heart disease in 1976. She was active in her church and Eastern Star and she loved to play tennis. Her favorite song was, "Don't Fence Me In."
