Frank Dean, eldest son of John and Mary Dean, was born December 11, 1886 near Gem, Kansas and passed away April 15, 1973 in the V.A. Hospital in La Jolla, California at the age of 86.
From September 1917 until February 1919 he served his country in WWI with the U.S. Army blonging to Company "C", 30th Infantry, 3rd Division.
He was wounded twice in battle for which he recieved the Purple Heart with Oak LEaf Cluster.
He was united in marriage to Margaret N. Logan, November 24, 1919 and to this union were born two sons, one of whom, James, preceded him in death.
He served Thomas County, Kansas as under-sheriff and sheriff over a period of eight years. The past five years have been spent in San Diego, California.
Surviving are his widow, son Jack and wife Mildred of Oberline, Kansas; a daughter-in-law , Peggy; three grandsons, one granddaughter of San Diego, california, two brothers and one sister, of Colby, Kansas.
Graveside services were conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Team of San Diego.
Entombment was in the El Camino Park Mausoleum.
