She was born to Joe and Kate Hawthorne in Arkansas, but she lived most of her life in Salida, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Carper, 2 sisters, 1 brother, 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild. Ima worked for Tri-Valley Cannery until she retired. She lived on her own until she was 94 years of age. She loved spending time with family, sharing stories with friends and enjoyed making quilts. Her family loved her and will miss her greatly. She is survived by her 2 sons and 1 daughter and their spouses, Jesse Hayden and Vera Carper of Modesto, Donald and Donna Carper of Paradise, and Evie and Ron Vrieling of Ripon; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grand- children, and 5 great-great- grandchildren.
