CIVIL WAR
Richard Banks was an alias used by Richard Eubanks, a son of George and Charity Eubanks. Richard served as a Private in Company B, 12th United States Colored Heavy Artillery from July 17, 1865 to April 24, 1866. He lived with his parents in Xenia, OH in 1870 and was living there in 1890.

12th Regiment Heavy Artillery
Organized at Camp Nelson, Ky., July 15, 1864. Attached to 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, District of Kentucky, Dept. of the Ohio, to January, 1865. Military District of Kentucky and Dept. of Kentucky, to April, 1866.
SERVICE.--Garrison duty in District of Kentucky, at Bowling Green, Camp Nelson and other points until April, 1866. Mustered out April 24, 1866.
