James R. Adams, 80, resident of Buckeye Road, Lancaster, KY died Thursday, January 9, 2003 at V.A. Medical Center, Lexington, KY. Born October 5, 1922 in Garrard Co., KY, son of the late Kerney Adams and Elizabeth Cain Adams. He was a self-employed Electrical contractor, member of Gunns Chapel Methodist Church, Army WWII Veteran, having received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star metals for his service in the European Theater. Survivors include his wife, Goldie Estes Adams, Lancaster; 3 sons, Rodney (Jan) Adams, Lancaster, Phillip (Linda) Adams, Lancaster, Barry (Birdie) Adams, Lancaster; 4 daughters, Nancy (Charles) Newby, Lancaster, Alesia (Ralph) Sallee, Lancaster, Judy (Rusty) Guy, Nicholasville, Ellen (David) Kiser, Lexington; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2003 at Ramsey Funeral Home officiated by Dr. Glenn Spann and Rev. Howard Coop. Burial will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery. Grandsons will be active pallbearers and granddaughters will be honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2003 at Ramsey Funeral Home.
