He grew up in Ardmore, Okla., and attended schools in Dixin, Okla., graduating from Dixin High School.
He managed his first grocery store in Eureka when he was 21 years old. He went on to manage stores in Coffeyville and Bartlesville, Okla., before buying Dave's IGA in 1960 in Eureka.
On Aug. 20, 1971, he married Vicki Ray at Miami, Okla. The couple bought Dave's IGA at Marion that same year and owned and operated it until 1990, when he suffered a stroke.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki of Marion; son, Jeff Jackson of Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Paula Milner of Emporia, Sherry Trevino of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Kim Burtin of Eureka; two brothers, J.C. Jackson of Wilson, Okla., and Paul Jackson of Coffeyville; sister, Mary McDonald of Bartlesville, Okla.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
