Roberts, Richard D., Captain died, Saturday, June 4, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was 73. Survivors are his wife of 32 years, Monika; son Gregory Roberts of Phoenix, AZ, daughter Tracy Norton of Tempe, AZ; stepson James Eoff of O'Fallon, MO, stepdaughter the late Moni L. Fitzgerald; grandchildren are Austin and Julia Roberts, Blake and Seth Norton, Jordan and Jayme Eoff, Megan and Lauren Fitzgerald; great-grandchild Logan O'Hara. Captain Roberts, of Chesterfield, was a native of St. Louis. He graduated from Ritenour High School in 1956 and attended Washington University. He joined Ozark Air Lines in 1959 where he started flying DC 3's. Richard D. Roberts was former Vice President of Flight Operations for Ozark Air Lines. When Ozark was absorbed into TWA's system in 1986, he joined TWA as Vice President of Safety and Engineering. In 1994 he became TWA's Vice President of Flight Operations. In this capacity he was responsible for the administration and training of TWA's pilots and worldwide flight operations. Captain Roberts also served as Chairman of the Flight Operations Council for the Air Transport Association in Washington D.C. He was President of Strebor, Inc., where he created and published the Jetrivia and Flightrivia flight following maps. Captain Roberts retired from his Vice President position at Trans World Airlines in 1998. In retirement, he became an airline consultant, served as Secretary of the Ozark Silver Swallows alumni organization, where he published the Retirees Newsletter, was Vice President of his residence association and served as a committee person at the Living Word United Methodist Church in Wildwood, MO. Services: Funeral service at Living Word United Methodist Church, 17315 Manchester Road, Wildwood, Wednesday, 10 a.m. Interment New St. Marcus Cemetery. Captain Roberts asked that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to Ozark Wings, c/o Fred Moore, 10 Regatta Bay Ct., Lake St. Louis, MO 63367-2246. Visitation at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Tuesday 4-8 p.m.
