He spent many happy summers rounding up cattle, wild horses and breaking horses to ride, and other "cowboy" activities in his youth. He later worked for the Bureau of Land Management, the Forest Service and the Bureau of Reclamation helping to build several dams, reservoirs, roads and trails, in the Manti-LaSal Mountains and in Summit County.
In March of 1942, he answered the call of his country, and spent four years with the Army Air Corps in England, North Africa, and Italy, defending our country and fighting for our freedom. He was the only LDS person in his outfit, but earned the respect of his fellow soldiers.
After Stan's discharge from the service, he married Naomi Lyman in 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple, five days after arriving home. They had been writing to each other throughout the war. They moved to Sunset, Utah and he went to work for Utah General Depot, later transferring to Hill Air Force Base.
After 14 years of marriage on August 6, 1959, their daughter, Linda came into their lives. In 1965 Naomi passed away.
In 1966 Stan married Julia Fallis in the Salt Lake Temple. They had met at Hill Air Force Base where they had both been working. They lived for a few years in Sunset and then moved into the home they built in West Point in 1968 where they lived for 43 years.
Stan retired from Hill Air Force Base after 35 years of service.
Over his lifetime, Stan was in constant service in the church. He spent many years in three bishoprics, served a Stake mission, served as Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader and many other positions. Together Stan and Julia served five years as Ordinance Workers in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Julia passed away in 2009.
