The son of Eugene and Grace (Dorney) Attkisson and husband of Polly Baird (later Coblens), William resided on Garvin Place and was an attorney and State Senator for the 38th Congressional District. He died at Norton Infirmary of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and following services at his mother's residence, was interred at Cave Hill on 23 June 1941.
