SIDNEY — Virginia Alger, a resident at the Countryside Care Center, Delhi, and formerly of 57 Pleasant St., Sidney, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 2, 2002, in Delhi.

She was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Sidney, the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Cora Slawson Charles.

For several years, Virginia was employed by Keith Clark in Sidney. She retired in 1986.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Charles Henriksen of Mount Upton, and Ruth and Dale Davis of Smiths, Ala.; two sisters, Wauneita Lord of Stamford and Thelma Dalrymple of Delhi. Also surviving are five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Virginia was predeceased by her son, Gerald R. Alger, on Nov. 23, 1973.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002, from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, with the Rev. Mary Ann Linder, pastor of the Guilford and Mount Upton United Methodist Churches, officiating.

Burial will be in the spring in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

Friends are invited to call from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Memorial Fund at the Countryside Care Center, Delhi, NY if desired."
