Reported that he and Nurse Euphemia Harthill, aged 19, died as a result of the same accident, which occurred near Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire. They were members of a party of 14 returning from an R.A.F. dance at Grangemouth, when the truck in which they were travelling collided with a railway bridge. As well as the three deaths, eight people were injured. It records that he was serving with 243 M.U., and that Nurse Harthill died on the way to Falkirk Hospital, where she had worked for a year".
