Lloyd was killed when his Spitfire (#X4923) aircraft collided with another Spitfire (#X4841) on the runway at RAF Station Grangemouth in Scotland. The other pilot, RCAF Sergeant Noel Patrick Julian, also perished in this aircraft accident.
