SAM ROBERSON COX was married to MARIETTA DUNCAN in Tennessee.

They had 3 children, FANNIE (MANLY), ROMA C. (MANLY) and THOMAS J. "TOMMY" COX. They are all buried at Round Rock.

Sam was born in JONESBORO, TENNESSEE.
He and MARIETTA came to West Texas in 1881 settling on the Clear Fork in Jones county. Lake Fort Phantom Hill covers a part of his original ranch land.


MARIETTA passed away in 1891 and is buried beside Sam at Round Rock Cemetery.

in 1893 SAM remarried to VIRGINIA LOUISE " VIRGIE " SoRelle and they had a son, SAM ROBERSON COX Jr.

VIRGIE is buried at the Abilene City Cemetery.

In 1916 married MARGARET "MAGGIE" PARKER in Abilene, Taylor county,Texas.
Maggie published 2 cookbooks and she loved to entertain at the home Sam built for her. She died in 1940 and is buried at the Abilene Cemetery.

SAM had a brother ABE that fought in the civil war.ABE went to Texas and bought land in Jones county and SAM and his family joined him there.
When ABE came down with TB he went to live with SAM and VIRGIE and they took care of him till he passed away.
After his death VIRGIE discovered she had T.B. also.
