Funeral service for Harold Golay, 64, who died Saturday night from injuries received in an automobile accident on North Fourteenth, will be 2 p. m. Tuesday in the First Christian Church. Dr. Bill Masters, pastor of First Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery under direction of Gill-Lessert Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Carl DeHeer, Lloyd DeHeer, Clifton Rowe, Ralph Briggs, Forrest Radcliff and Carl Rowen. The family will be at the home of his mother, Mrs. H. R. Vorheis, 2504 East Prospect. A memorial has been established in Golay's name for First Christian Church and contributions may be made through the church office.
Golay was born at Bliss (now Marland) on Aug. 27, 1911. He received his education in the Ponca City school system, graduating from high school here in 1929. He was married to Lorene LaVerne Dickson on Oct. 7, 1950, in Ponca City. Prior to retiring from Continental Oil Company, Golay had been a Cities Service-Sequoia employee. He retired after 41 years service in Ponca City refinery operations. At the time of his retirement he was an operator on the East Plant fluid catalytic cracking unit.
Golay was a member of First Christian Church. He sang with the Plainsmen Chorale for a number of years and was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, of 137 Glenside; one daughter, Mrs. Mark (Debbie) Love, 1921 North Fifth; two sons, Dennis and Darren, both of 137 Glenside; his mother; one brother, Vernon M. Golay, Route 3; one step-sister, Mrs. Velma Stark, and a step sister-in-law, Mrs. Madge Vorheis, both of Ponca City.
