MATHIS-Grady William Mathis-55 who live at 2741 Oak Street died Saturday morning at home. Mr. Mathis was born in Cairo, GA and had lived in Jacksonville the past 40 years. He was a member of the Riverside Ave Christian Church. Mr. Mathis was a foreman with the John H. Swisher Co and had been with the company 25 years.
Survivors include his widow Mrs. Lorene Mathis of Jacksonville, his son Grady Wm Mathis, Jr. of Jacksonville. Three sisters Mrs.Willa Mae Fulmer of Tuscon, Ariz and Mrs Myrtle Coleman and Mrs Betty Anglin of Jacksonville. Three Brothers Carl Maddock, Woodrow W. Mathis, and Martin Mathis of Jacksonville.
Funeral will be at 4:00 pm Tuesday in the Hardage and Sons Riverside Funeral Home 517 Park Street with Rev F.T. Riley, Associate Minister of Riverside Ave Christian Church officiating. Active pallbearers will be T.C. Edwards,Robert C. Sundberg, Harold Dunn, Francis McCloud, Billy Sutton and Phillip Hess. Honorary pallbearers will be Hubert C. Peeples, Fred Kelley, William James, and J.W. Corey.
Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Park, Normandy Blvd.
