He served as an officer with the Sylvania and Newington police departments for 15 years. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He was a Baptist.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Pam Smoak Ellison of Newington; a daughter, Melissa Ellison of Sylvania; his mother, Christine Johns Ellison of Sylvania; brothers, Robert F. Ellison of Sylvania and Dr. C.W. Ellison of Morganton, N.C.; two nephews and a niece.
VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home, Sylvania.
FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Saturday at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home, burial in Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
