Troy Ivan Gunter, age 65 of Murphy, NC passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011.
He was a native of Kentucky but lived most of his life in Murphy. Troy was the son of the late Lindsey and Dorotha Paul Gunter. He was a laborer for a lumber yard. Troy enjoyed working on cars, walking and playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of Snow Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, JoAnn Kelly and Aretha Beaver.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Crisenda Gunter; two sons, Chris Gunter and his wife, Tiffany of Andrews,NC and Donald Elliott and his wife, Laina of Blairsvilole, GA; three daughters, Tina Brown and her boyfriend, Henry Salcedo of Dalton, GA, Mary Jane Gunter of Murphy, NC, Amanda Gail Gunter and her boyfriend, Eddie Green of Murphy, MC; four brothers, Cas Gunter and wife, Ruth of Blairsville, GA, R.D. Gunter and wife, Betty of Blairsville,NC, James Clyde Gunter and wife, Joanie of Atlanta, GA and Elza Lee Gunter of Spruce Pine, NC; one sister, Rosetta Beaver of Murphy, NC; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at ll a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Beaver, L.D. Beaver, Jerry Beaver, Weslwy Beaver, Bucky Kelly, Jeff Rogers and Henry Salcedo.
