Almeda June Tate, 87, Kokomo, died in Sterling, Va., Tuesday, May 24, 2011.

She was born in Peru on June 9, 1923 to Harvey L. and Edyth V. (Miller) Harris Clark. She married Joseph A. Tate, Feb. 14, 1942 and he preceded her in death Dec. 1, 2010.

Almeda was a homemaker. She is survived by daughters Madeline K. (husband John) Korth, Ulster Park, N.Y., Lisa T. (husband Robert) Narod, Herndon, Va., son Dennis K. Tate, Upper Darby, Pa. and a sister, Margaret Benedict, Jonesboro. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.



A funeral service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011 with the Rev. George McCarty officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m., the time of service, on Sunday at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel.

Memorials can be made to Capitol Hospice, 209 Gibson St. North West, Suite 202, Leesburg, Va., 20176.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St.
