Nannie Lee Morgan Engels was born 16 May 1879 in Moorefield, Independence Co., AR. She was d/o William Lorenza Morgan and Elizabeth Tabitha Moore.

Even though only had schooling until the eight grade she enjoyed reading and music and sing hymns. She clerked a small mercantile county store run by Dan Moore at Sulphur Rock for about a year in 1909 before her marriage. While she worked there the store changed Managers and she worked part of the year under Jim Jimerson. She was engaged to Young Mack Engels Sr. in 1909.

Married at the home of her parents by Rev. C.F. Hiveley to Young Mack Engels Sr s/o John Wesley Engels and Asenath Ridley Mack on 17 Mar 1910. She left her job in early Feb 1910 to prepare for her wedding. She bought yards of fine white China silk and "real" Irish lace and had her wedding dress made by a local dressmaker. This dress still possossed by her descendants, who marvel at the many tiny buttonholes, so meticulously worked, and the rows of tiny tucks which adorned it.

She was known to be a tomboy, and had a special fondness for pretty pieces of china and carefully preserved what few she had to where now these are treasured keepsakes of her descendants. Even though she didn't like to cook she was well known for her cornbread and fruit pies. Was a prodigious letter writer and kept in touch with relatives far and wide. And also enjoyed carrying on long talks on the telephone when she wasn't able to get out much.

She was a member of the Moorefield United Methodist Church in Moorefield, Independence Co., AR. Was sick often throughout her early life. Had appendicitis, and also what was described as a "sunstroke". Had arthritis in later years and a light stroke. One year after they moved to Batesville, AR she had a stroke and was bedfast at a Nursing home in Forrest City, Arkansas until she died. She died 6 Mar 1965 in Forrest City, St. Francis Co., AR. She was buried next to her husband 6 Feb 1965 in Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville, Independence Co., AR.
