James Robert Simmermon Sr. was born 21 Aug 1914 in Batesville, Independence Co., AR. He was s/o Claude Cleveland Simmermon and Dessie Mae Ferguson.

He served during WWII in the Navy.

He married Marie Macksine Massey d/o Luther Edgar Massey Sr. and Lou DeAnna (Mack) Massey 24 Mar 1939 at Moorefield United Methodist Church in Moorefield, Independence Co., AR.

He died 27 Aug 2001 in Conway, Faulkner Co., AR. He was buried 29 Aug 2001 in Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville, Independence Co., AR along with his loving wife and family.

James Robert Simmermon Sr., 87, of Conway, died Monday (Aug. 27, 2001) at his home.

Born Aug. 21, 1914, son of the late Claude C. and Dessie Mae Ferguson Simmermon, he was a Navy veteran of World War II, a lumber and stave inspector, and a memberof the Church of Christ in Independence, Miss.

He was also preceded in death by two wives, Marie Massey Simmermon and Ora Bernard Simmermon; two sons, JamesSimmermon Jr. and Gary Mack Simmermon; and a stepson, Charles Bernard.

Survivors are his sons, Prior Simmermon of Greenbrier and Benton Simmermon of Conway; a daughter, Catherine M. Heath of Conway; a stepson, Guy Bernard of Independence; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Neal of Independence; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moorefield United Methodist Church officiated at the Rev. Mary Catherine McSpadden. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers will be Hughie Craig, Randy Fraser, Mike Rossie, Chris Heath, Terry Bernard and Eric Simmermon.

James Robert Simmermon Sr., 87, of Conway, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at his home.

Born Aug. 21, 1914, in Batesville, he was the son of Claude C. Simmermon and Dessie Mae Ferguson Simmermon. He was a retired lumber and state inspector and he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Independence, Miss. He played football for Arkansas College, where he attended for two years.

Survivors include two sons, Prior Simmermon of Greenbrier and Benton Simmermon of Conway; a stepson, Guy Bernard of Independence; a daughter, Catherine M. Heath of Conway; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Neal of Independence; four grandchildren, Chris Heath of Little Rock, Patricia Heath of Conway, Eric Simmermon of Newark and Sonia Dayberry of Sidney; six step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marie Massey Simmermon; his second wife, Ora Bernard Simmermon; two sons, James Simmermon, Jr. and Gary Mack Simmermon; and a stepson, Charles Bernard.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moorefield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mary Catherine McSpadden officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers will be Hughie Craig, Randy Fraser, Mike Rossi, Chris Heath, Terry Bernard and Eric Simmermon.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.
