He was born in Wisconsin to parents Thomas Percy McQuiggin and Elfrieda Dettman. He married Dolores Horn March 25, 1951. They had four children- June, Jane, Richard and Jean. They were divorced January 11, 1974. He was a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force from September 26, 1948, served in Korea and Vietnam, retiring in 1970 after 22 years of service. He was buried November 1, 2002
