Mrs Abbott had been in poor health the past year but did not complain of her illness. On Thursday previous to her death she submitted to an operation. Everything was done that loving hearts and hands could do. Her husband and son were with her at the time of her death.
Mrs Abbott spent her entire life in this community. On Sept 16, 1919, she was married to Harry Abbott. Besides her husband and a son, Floyd Fry by a former marriage, she leaves also a daughter-in-law and four grandchildren, Betty, Marcia, Peggy and Virginia Ann; her mother, Elizabeth Radke; three brothers, Ferd and E.E. Radke of Clarinda and W.J. Radke of Washington state; two sisters, Mrs Martha Miller and Mrs Tillie Loman, both of Clarinda; also a host of nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom live to cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her father, who passed away in February, 1934.
Mrs Abbott became a member of the German Lutheran church when an infant. Her sincere interest was in her home and family and her grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at Walker's Funeral Home, Wednesday, March 20, at 3:30 pm, conducted by Ellsworth L. Woods, pastor of the Church of Christ. Delvin Carver sand "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages," accompanied by Aletha Hutchings. Flower girls were Beulah Harper, Bessie Bales, Margaret Pfander and Mildred Greenlee. Palbearers were C.G. Hipsley, Earl Newton, Claude Fulk, Vern Carmichael, Stanley Pfander and Guy Fulk. Interment was made in the Clarinda cemetery. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Mar 28, 1940
