"Carroll D. Locher, a life-long resident of Auburn, passed away suddenly after being stricken ill at his home at 155 Hillmont Avenue last Monday.
He was found by his son, Mildon, who has been making his home with his father for several months.
Locher was 72 years of age at the time of his death. He was born in Auburn on June[sic] 11, 1895, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Locher.
He, at one time, operated the appliance business of C. D. Locher and Son, and for many years was bookkeeper for Fred L. Husse.
He served as Placer County auditor from 1927 to 1937. Locher held membership in Eureka Lodge No. 16, F. and A.M., and in the Auburn Fire Department.
He leaves another son, Robert Ashley of Berkeley; a brother, Floyd J. Locher of Sacramento; a step-mother, Selma Locher of Sacramento; and five grandchildren.
Masonic funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 in the Chapel of the Hills with Eureka Lodge officiating. Cremation will follow at Sierra View."
