Anita E. Kummer, age 88, formerly of Sheboygan and a resident of the Beach Health Care Center of the Sheboygan Retirement Home, died there on Friday, Oct. 10, 2003.

Anita was born on Aug. 30, 1915, in Madison, a daughter of the late Hugh and Erminie (Brictson) Bliss. She graduated from West High School in Madison in 1933. Following high school she attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1937 with a degree in home economics.

On April 26, 1941, she was united in marriage to Frederick Kummer at Crown Point, Ind. He preceded her in death.

Anita taught home economics at the Sheboygan Vocational School and the Rehabilitation Center of Sheboygan, retiring in 1982.

Anita was a member of Zion United Church of Christ.

Anita is survived by two sons, James (Mary) Kummer and William (Darlene) Kummer, both of Sheboygan; four grandchildren David (Carrie) Kummer of Verona, Steven (Michelle) Kummer of Sheboygan, Wendy (Andrew) Petzold of Milwaukee and Richard Kummer of McFarland; four great grandchildren, Sydney Kummer, Tony Kummer, Aaron Petzold and Grace Petzold; a sister, Jean (Gordon) Freese of Madison; two brothers, Marzo Bliss of Madison and Clinton Bliss of San Clemente, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Lou Bliss of Midland, Texas; and Diane Fiedler, mother of Wendy and Richard.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Truax Bliss, and two sisters-in-law, Eliza Bliss and Dee Bliss.

Funeral services for Anita will be held at noon, Monday, Oct. 13 at the Novak-Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Steve Pedersen, pastor of Zion United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home, 1535 S. 12th St., on Monday from 11 a.m. until time of services at noon.

A memorial fund has been established in Anita's name for the Sheboygan County Humane Society.

Anita's family would like to express a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Sheboygan Retirement Home and Beach Health Care Center for the care and concem shown her while she resided there.
