No death or burial information has been found for Luther's father, John, but the obituary of his brother, Jesse, says he moved with his parents to Bryant, Oklahoma about 1902. It would seem that John died sometime between their move and before the 1910 Census was taken.

Luther was a mail carrier north of Keytesville in Chariton County, a blacksmith, as well as a minister, frequently preaching at Cumberland Chapel near Grand Center, Randolph Co. MO. He also operated the store at nearby Hubbard.
