DEATH OF MRS. A. J. SIMPSON
Mrs. A. J. Simpson passed away at her home in Fairbury, Nebr., January 27, 1951, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 4 days.
Huldah Amanda Emmogene Chapin was born at Oak Hill, Jefferson County, Wisonsin, February 23, 1866. In 1884, she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Chapin to Oberlin, Kansas.
She married Andrew James Simpson April 19, 1885, and to them eight children were born, three dying in infancy.
Her husband preceded her in death August 10, 1941, and the oldest son, Jesse, passed away on December 20, 1941. Three grandsons gave their lives in World War II.
She joined the Baptist church of Oberlin, kansas, in early life, and transferred her membership to the Baptist church at Alexandria, when the family moved there.
Surviving are two sons, Irvin, of the home and Roy of Los Angeles, two daughters, Mrs. John W. Powell of Powell, and Mrs. Oscar Dahlgren of near Fairbury; one sister, Mrs. Lida McDowell of Oberlin, Kansas; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Traum's Funeral Home and at two at the Baptist church in Alexandria, with Rev. Wallace, officiating. Pallbearers were Maurice McIntyre, Wayne Klous, Frank Lange, Will Kapke, Ray Powell and Ray Hoyt. Burial in the Alexandria cemetery.
Those from a distance attending the funeral of Mrs. A. J. Simpson of Alexandria Tuesday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Bird of Omaha, Ray Holt of Reynolds, Mrs. Nettie Simpson of Witchita, Kans. and Mrs. Bessie Floyd of Beatrice."
