Samuel D. "Sam" Adams, 54, of Burlington died at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 7:40 p.m. following one year of declining health.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Vickie Vincent Adams for 36 years, who survives and the son of the late Thomas M. Adams and Beverly James Adams, who survives. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and co-owner of A & N Tool and Machine. Sam was a member of the First Baptist Church of Graham. He was a loving husband, daddy and granddaddy.

In addition to his wife of their home and mother of Graham, survivors include his son and best friend, Chris Adams and wife Jaime of Graham; his daughter, Stephanie Adams David of Graham; and three grandchildren, Caleb and Cohen Adams and Addyson David.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas A. Adams .

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Steve Joyner and Rev. David Neff. Burial with military honors will follow the service in Graham Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of his mother, Beverly Adams, 409 Forest Drive, Graham, NC.
