ERLE HARLAND PARKER
April 3, 1925 – April 17, 2011

Erle Harland Parker Jr., died on April 17 2011 at Rock of Ages, McMinnville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 1:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, McMinnville with private interment at Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Erle, son of Erle and Ethel Jones Parker, Sr., was born on April 3, 1925 in Sheridan, Wyoming. Erle lived in several places as a child, graduating from Vale Union High School. Erle served in the US Navy during World War II serving from 1944 – 1946. He married Elizabeth Zimerman on June 17, 1947 in Payette, Idaho. Erle attended and graduated from Oregon State University in 1950.

The Parker's moved to Dayton, Oregon in 1950 where Erle worked for Buchannan Cellers Grain Company. Erle established and operated Chem Spray (commercial agriculture spray service) in 1951 until retiring in 1984.

He was a member of Jacob Mayer Lodge in Dayton; founded Oregon Ground Sprayers Organization in 1958, and was a pioneer in the chemical pesticide usage and application. He served on the ESD Board representing Yamhill County and was past member of the McMinnville Rotary Club. Erle was the first Captain Kidd of the Dayton Booster Club. Erle was selected and received the Senator Wayne Morse Education Award from Dayton High School in 1968. Erle was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in McMinnville. He enjoyed golfing and family.

Erle is survived by his wife Elizabeth of McMinnville; sons Clifford (Merlynne) Parker of Amity, Gene (Dixie) Parker of The Dalles and David (Sandra) Parker of Gladstone; daughter Becki (Rod) Robinson of Eugene; brother Charles (Nancy) Parker of Manhattan Beach CA and sister Betty Nixon of Peoria, Arizona; two grandchildren, Derek Parker and Jacob Parker and one step-grandchild, Rodger. He was preceded in death by a brother Todd Parker in 1993.
