U.S. Congressman. As a child he performed with the Hagenback-Wallace Circus, graduated from Findlay College, in 1934 and was ordained minister. Entering politics, he was Mayor of Celina, Ohio, (1940-44), the Ohio State central committeeman, (1954-66), a member of the Ohio State Senate, (1959-72) and public affairs director of the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Ohio, (1950-72). In 1973, he was elected as a Republican to the Ninety-third Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until his death at age 68.
