Lucy Ann Burdick, daughter of Albert Burdick and Kate Healor died at the age of 20 when she accidentally drowned. She was not married.

A newspaper account of her death reads:

(Coldwater Courier and Republican)

Miss Lucy Burdick drowned. Sunday the report reached this city that Miss Lucy Burdick of Kinderhook, was drowned in Silver Lake, about 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Mr. Lewis Harding, a postmaster at Kinderhook, and son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Harding of this city, with Miss Nora Waterhouse, and Miss Lucy Burdick were in a rowboat fishing. The boat was anchored about 30 rods from the shore (165 feet) and Mr. Harding sat at one end, Miss Waterhouse at the other, and Miss Burdick in the center. Suddenly the boat was capsized and all three were in the water. It is supposed that Miss Burdick reached down to pick up a line or something of the kind, but just what caused the boat to capsize will probably never be known. When the boat went over, all three clung to it, but the boat again rolled over and this time Miss Burdick lost her hold upon it and sank to the bottom. Mr. Harding could not swim and he and Miss Waterhouse were badly strangled and without doubt would have drowned had the boat not been anchored. A party in a boat some distance away saw the accident and hurried to the rescue of the two who were clinging to the boat. It is said a man stood on the shore when the accident occured, and could have waded to within a few rods of the boat as the water was shallow, and he was a good swimmer, but made no attempt at rescue. Miss Burdick's body was recovered and the water was scarcely six feet deep where she lay. Miss Burdick was an estimable young lady, about 18 years old. The funeral was held at her home Tuesday and Interment was in the Walters (now Mundy) cemetery, 23 June, 1899.
