Obituary- Shippy, Frank Henry, 1856-1935

Frank Shippy Rites to Be Held Sunday
Was Resident Since Boyhood; Worked on Railroad For Number of Years

Sensing that his end was near, last Sunday Frank Shippy said to his family, "I'll never plant another garden." Death came Wednesday morning [Feb. 27, 1935] as Mr. Shippy quietly passed on at his home.

He had been a sufferer of asthma and bronchitis for the past 14 years.

Mr. Shippy was born March 5, 1856 in Fremont, Ohio. He came to Michigan with his parents in 1872. In 1880 he married Mary E. McLouth of Wheatland. There were three daughters, Mrs. Fred Gamble, Mrs. C. J. Wolcott, Mrs. Albert Boulton, and one son, George, all of Albion.

For 28 years Mr. Shippy worked on the railroad and when he came home he was satisfied to remain there, working in his garden with his flowers and vegetables. He was a very devoted father, and in late years his grandchildren have been his great pride.

Besides his wife and children there survive a brother, George, a number of nieces and nephews and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon [Mar. 3, 1935] at the Beebe Funeral Home at 2 o'clock. The service will be conducted by Rev. J. D. McLouth, pastor of the Congregational church in Addison, a relative of the family and a man who has been most devoted to Mr. Shippy since childhood.

Mrs. Shippy expects to go to Albion Sunday night to make her home with her children.
