Billy Joe Ayers was the son of Horace Leroy Ayers 'Roy ' and Hattie Velma Rogers. He died when his car overturned and crushed his head and chest. Billy Joe was married to Marylyn Allgood, daughter of Myron Allgood and Georgia Mae Beecher. They had one son Benton Leroy Ayers Armstrong.

I remember hearing my dad speaking so fondly of Billy Joe. There was one story in particular where Billy Joe and his cousin , Charles Ray Ayers, went off to the woods to play with their bb guns. They decided to shoot sparrows, or maybe crows or both. They then proceeded to cook them over an open fire out in this old wooded lot. They apparently ate them or claimed they did. They both got a whipping. My dad always laughed until he teared up. Good memories is what we hold on to. God bless
