Services for Bessie McGlothlin Corpier, 99, of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Joe Pool, pastor of First United Methodist Church and the Rev. Elwood S. Poore, pastor emeritus of First United Methodist, officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery under direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Corpier died Sept. 16, 2002, at her residence.
She was born June 30, 1903, in Cooke County to George R. and Leona Katherine Winton McGlothlin. On May 20, 1936, she married William Everett Corpier in Sherman. She was a life-long resident of Cooke County. She earned a bachelors of science degree in history and elementary education in 1942 from North Texas University and taught in Cooke Count Schools for 44 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and its Friendship Class in the Sunday school. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, the American Study Club, the Retired School Personnel organization and the AARP.
Survivors include her cousins, Edgar McGilvary of Gainesville, and Geraldine Coe and Ester Brumit, both of Dension.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Everett Corpier on Dec. 7, 1978; and her sisters, Essie Altum on Nov. 6, 1988; and Iola Long on Dec. 28, 1985.
No visitation is planned.
