Graveside services for W. Russell Brooks, 60, Rt. 2, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Goodman officiating.

Mr. Brooks died Tuesday, April 28, 1992, at his home following a long illness.

He was born June 6, 1931, in Elgin, the son of Albert D. and Eunice C. Loftin Brooks.

Mr. Brooks was the principal of India/Kaw Valley schools until his illness in June 1990. He had worked for the Lawrence school district since 1957.

He received his bachelor's degree in education from Emporia State University in 1957 and his master's degree in education from Emporia State in 1965.

He was a member of the First Christian Church and Alford-Clarke Post 852 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had served in Korea. He was a past member of the Lawrence Breakfast Optimists.

Mr. Brooks married Patricia Gray on June 1, 1958, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Kari Maiden, Bluff City, Tenn.; two sons, Mark Brooks, of the home, and David Brooks, Bremerton, Wash.; his mother, Eunice C. Brooks, Topeka; two brothers, Roland Brooks, Hamilton, Mont., and Robert Brooks, Blue Springs, Mo.; and a sister, Janice Johnson, Topeka.
