George W. Barnett was born in Bates County, Missouri, on July 28, 1859, and died in the State Home for Tuberculosis at Topeka, Kansas, May 18, 1912, aged 59 years, 9 months and 15 days.
The deceased was married to Lizzie L. Stinnett in 1884 and to this union was born seven children, two of whom died in infancy. He leaves five daughters, a father, five brothers and two sisters to mourn his loss.
Funeral services were held at Mt. Vernon, conducted by Rev. Clapp who spoke from Job 14:14. His words were very appropriate for the occasion. After the services, the remains were tenderly laid to rest by the side of his wife to await the resurrection morn.~
In another local periodical, a very small piece indicated George's death and burial at Scott Cemetery, Section 5, Lot 3, Grave 1.
