Rachel married to Harry Cadmus Vail on 14 Jul 1897, in Plainfield, N.J. Their children: Carleton Harry Vail, Ellis B.Vail, Theodore Paul Vail and Ruth Tollis Vail (Ritter).

Mrs. Rachel Vail 79, Passes Away: formerly of 306 Orange Place and widow of Harry C. Vail, died this morning (June 27), at the shore home of her son Carleton Vail, in Leonardo. Mrs. Vail resided at her son-in-law and daughter home of James. R. Ritter, in Middlesex.
Mrs. Vail a charter member of Friends First Day School here, and born in South Jersey, and came to Plainfield about six years old. She later resided in Chappaqua, N.Y. and Indianapolis, Indiana for 12 years before returning to Plainfield, in 1904. She moved to her daughters home after the passing of her husband in 1941.

Note: her daughter Ruth Ritter, is buried in Plainfield cemetery (12512121) requested link to parents and husband on 4-2022 and removed memorial # 180755037, not buried in Shoreland Memorial Gardens.
