Lee Byron Shank was the son of Alonzo Shank and Elsie Deffenbaugh (spelling ?) per his marriage records. His nicknames were 'Barney' and 'Barland'.

He married Ethel May Boys Nov 23, 1904 at Sault Ste. Marie in the Algoma District, Ontario, Canada. See her memorial for further details about their children, his nicknames, etc.

Lee (widower) married Mary Elizabeth Hartman, widow of James Edward Howey, Sept 18, 1948 at Flint, Michigan, USA. Later divorced.

"Lee (Barney) Shank, 5414 Revere St., Flint, Michigan, age 72, died Friday, Jan. 6, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Flint. Funeral services were held at 3:30 pm Monday, Jan. 9, from the Hill Funeral Home, Grand Blanc, Mich. Rev. Philip Smith officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Born in Hershey, Michigan, July 3, 1883, Mr. Hershey* had been a railroader all his life. Working for the 'Chicago and Northwestern' in 1900, he shortly afterward moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., where he worked on the Algoma Central for 20 years. Coming to Flint he was with the Pere Marquette — later the Chesapeake £ Ohio — until retiring in 1947. Mr. Shank was a member of the A.F.£.A.M. of the Canadian Sault, and member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Clarence Coon of Flint, three grandchildren and a brother, A. B. Shank of Long View Washington.
